Vascular Laser

About: Vascular Laser

This laser treatment targets visible vessels and facial redness using Cutera’s Excel V™ laser. This includes facial telangiectasia, rosacea, scarring as well as spider and leg veins and poikiloderma. It will repair, restore and deliver a brighter more even tone complexion and is best for clients looking to address facial redness and/or vessels of concern.

The laser uses light energy to target hemoglobin (blood) chromophores in the visible vessels. This forces them to coagulate and diminish.

For many visible vessels a single treatment is normally sufficient. For larger areas 1-3 treatments spaced four weeks apart may be required. It’s always best to book a skin consultation to receive your own personalised treatment plan.

The Details
  • Results

Results will differ from person to person depending on the treatment area and/or condition being treated. Regular treatments will maintain results. A skin consultation is always the best starting point.

  • Who isn't suitable

    Anyone who:
    • Is pregnant
    • Has active sunburn
    • Has suspicious lesions or known skin cancer in the treatment area
    • Has metal implants in treatment area with thin skin (i.e. jaw, orbit)
    • Has wounds or significant irritation/rashes in the treatment area
    • Has active herpes simplex in the treatment area

  • Treatment preparation

    • Avoid excessive sun exposure or fake tanning for two weeks prior
    • Cease taking blood thinning medication and supplements including fish oil to minimise the risk of bruising
    • Consider taking natural supplements or antiviral medication for prevention if you are prone to cold sores
    • All vitamin A products should be stopped one week before your treatment

    Please also advise if you:
    • Are currently undergoing, or have undergone, isotretinoin treatment or with drugs in a similar class within the last six months
    • Are undergoing gold therapy
    • Have recently used any photosensitising medications (including antibiotics)
Note: do not cease prescribed medications without first consulting with your general practitioner.

  • Expected outcomes

Expect at least 24 hours of downtime due to redness and heat in the treated area.

    Alongside:
    • Discomfort during the treatment from the heat emitted
    • Redness, swelling, blisters and/or bruising which is usually resolved within a few hours.
    • Bruising, swelling and darkening in the treated area that may persist for up to two weeks.

  • What to expect

Prior to your first treatment, Yads will consult with you to assess your suitability and discuss any concerns or questions you may have.

During the treatment, a cooling gel will be placed on the treatment area, before the laser is glided over. No anaesthetic is required.

The laser will feel like a hot flicking sensation on the skin, and it can feel particularly spicy when the treatment area is near the corners of your nose or under the eyes.

Protective eyewear must be worn at all times and your mouth must remain closed to avoid potential teeth and eye damage from direct exposure to the laser.

  • Post treatment care

After your treatment it is important to be gentle with your skin for five days, or until any reactions have subsided, avoid sun exposure and use a broad-spectrum SPF. An over-the-counter antihistamine may be used to reduce the potential of post-treatment swelling.

    Also:
    • Avoid excessively hot showers, saunas and spas for two days
    • Compression stockings may be worn for three to five days post leg vein treatment, if desired
    • Avoid high impact activity (running, jumping, heavy weights) for three to five days after leg vein treatments
    • Use gentle, non-irritating products after facial vein treatments
