Pico Genesis

About: Pico Genesis

Pico Genesis is a gentle, non-invasive laser treatment that uses ultra-quick pulses of energy to break up unwanted pigment like sunspots and melasma. It also kickstarts your skin’s natural repair process, helping improve overall clarity and even out those mild textural inconsistencies. It’s a great option if you want lighter, brighter, more even skin without any downtime.

Pico Genesis is effective at improving uneven skin tone, sunspots, freckles, melasma and other benign pigmentation. It’s also helpful for post-inflammatory hyperpigmentation and acne scarring that can follow breakouts or other skin traumas. It can additionally target age management concerns such as enlarged pores, texture and help to even fine lines. In some cases, it can treat hemosiderin staining and certain birthmarks, and it can break down unwanted tattoo pigment.

Pico Genesis is for all skin types, including darker tones.

The Details
  • Results

Results vary depending on your skin type, the concern we’re treating, and how your skin responds. Some people notice improvements within a few sessions, while others need a longer-term plan. During your consultation, your skin will be assessed and a personalised treatment plan will be mapped out for you. Regular maintenance is recommended as pigment can return, especially in the case of melasma.

  • Who isn't suitable

Pico Genesis isn’t suitable during pregnancy, or for anyone currently on isotretinoin.

  • Treatment preparation

If you’re prone to cold sores, an over-the-counter antiviral taken beforehand is recommended to minimise the risk of a post-treatment outbreak.

  • Expected outcomes

Most clients have some mild redness after Pico Genesis, which usually settles within 24–48 hours. Over the next few days, treated sunspots or freckles will darken and gently flake off as the skin heals. Occasionally, you may get a little histamine response (think slight itching or welts) but this settles within a few days and can be eased with an over-the-counter antihistamine.

  • What to expect

Most people describe it as a light ‘electric rain’ sensation. You might feel the occasional snap, but it’s quick and settles almost instantly.

  • Post treatment care

Go gentle on your skin for the next five days, or until everything has settled. Use a mild cleanser morning and night, plus your moisturiser and any post-care recommended. Avoid direct sun, and make sure you’re wearing a high SPF (and a hat) whenever you’re outdoors.
