Perioral dermatitis (PD) 101, because I see so much of it come through clinic! So here are a few tips if you’re dealing with this skin concern:

– Pull all actives (no retinoids, exfoliants, or fragrance).
– Simplify your routine, think minimal, soothing, and calming.
– Chat to your GP. Antibiotics aren’t forever, but they are the most effective way to settle PD long term. Oral or topical depending on severity; and

In clinic light-based treatments like LED or Laser Genesis can help reduce lingering redness and support healing.

(Full recipe below 👇) Craving sweets before your period? It’s not lack of willpower… it’s hormones.

During your luteal phase, your body naturally craves more carbs and comfort foods. Here’s how I honor those cravings with something that tastes good, but is also full of nutrition! 🤎

Recipe:

-1 medium sweet potato
-1/2 cup runny peanut butter
-1/2 cup honey
-1 egg
-1 Tbs flaxseed
-1/4 tsp vanilla
-1/2 cup cacao or cocoa powder
-1/4 tsp baking soda
-lots of chocolate chips
-flaky salt for topping (optional)

How to:

-preheat oven to 180C and bake sweet potato for about 30-35min or until very soft
-carefully peel the skin off the sweet potato and add to large bowl and smash with a spoon
-add the wet ingredients to the same bowl and mix well
-then add the dry ingredients to the bowl and mix well, fold in chocolate chips
-line a 8x8 baking dish with parchment paper and pour batter into dish, top with extra chocolate chips
-bake on 180C for about 30min or until a tooth pick comes out clean
-top with flaky salt and enjoy!

As the weather starts to heat up don’t forget to check the UV index before heading out. Even moderate levels can damage skin. ALWAYS READ THE LABEL AND FOLLOW THE DIRECTIONS. Apply 20 minutes before sun exposure. Sunscreen is only one part of sun protection so wear protective clothing and seek shade. Avoid prolonged sun exposure. Re-apply every hour and after swimming, towelling and perspiring in accordance with directions.
